A week old

Gunnar will be a week old come 2:36am Thursday morning. I can't believe how much Kyle and I have fallen in love with this kid in such a short amount of time. Gunnar is doing well and Kyle and I are learning the joys of parenthood. I'm learning that sleep is not as important as I have always thought as Gunnar insists on staying up between his 12:00am-2:30am feedings. I have also given in to the pacifier. I wasn't so sure about giving him one so soon, but in a desperate moments at 1:30am, I caved and opened the package of binkies. He is also full of gas...I can't believe how much he farts, burps, hiccups, and poops! His favorite trick to is poop right after I give him a clean diaper.
Gunnar had a doctor's appointment yesterday and he was circumcised today (they don't do them in the German hospitals, German's wait until a child is 2-3 years old to do the circumcision). He is gaining weight and is a healthy little boy! He has made it is 6lbs! Today was probably more rough on me than him with the circumcision. The doctor told us that he did a great job and is a very well behaved baby! I on the other hand sat in the waiting room and shed a few tears. I must say though that the military pediatrician is awesome. We don't have a choice of who we see on post, so I was pleasantly surprised when we met her and be both think she is great! She is even calling us tomorrow morning to check in on Gunnar after his circumcision.
Here is daddy comforting the little guy before he goes back for his procedure today!

We thought we were lucking out and Kyle would get to be here until Tuesday when my parents arrive. Today we found out that it isn't the case and he is leaving Saturday morning. It is only about 3 1/2 days on my own, so I think I will manage, but it is still going to be really hard to let Kyle go, even if it is only for 17 days!
As for me, I am feeling much better, I think I am finally starting to walk a little more non-handicapped like. Today I was excited when at the doctor appointment it didn't take me five minutes to get down the stairs. I am having a hard time taking it easy, I have a lot of things I would like to do, but know that they can all wait. I know that my parents won't mind if my house isn't perfect. They raised me and have seen my messy room many times.
Here are some more pictures of Gunnar, I might get a little carried away here in the next few days with pictures, but really, can you ever get to much of this cute baby?

I am so glad he is doing so good! Don't worry about the house - Gunnar is the most important thing right now! Love ya
