Gunnar is 1 Month Old!

Some days I wonder who is a bigger baby and more work, Oma or Gunnar?

Yesterday Gunnar turned 1 month old! While I don't want Gunnar to grow up to fast, it has been fun watching him grow this past month. (Kyle on the other hand is anxiously waiting for Gunnar to get a little older so he can play with him.) Gunnar is a lot of fun when he is awake and this kid has the cutest smile. I am pretty sure it is an involuntary muscle movement at this point, but it still melts our hearts when he looks up at us and gives us the biggest grin...even if it is followed with earth-scattering screams! Gunnar is sleeping much better at night, but my days of sleeping in are over. Gunnar is wide-eyed and ready for attention come 6am, however this morning it was 4:30. Kyle did take Gunnar yesterday morning and I got to sleep until 9:30 which was awesome and wonderful!
At Gunnar's 2 week baby wellness check-up (which he got at 3 weeks due to them canceling the 2 week appointment without telling me...a wasted morning)he was up to 7 1/2 lbs. He was in the 25 percentile for weight (which is great considering he was at 10%) and about the 50 percentile for his head circumference and length.

Yesterday I thought it looked like a nice day to go to the lake for a picnic and getting some sun. Kyle told me it was hot outside and so we packed up and headed out. I didn't take into account that Kyle was out running when he told me about the weather, so of course it was hot...to say the least it was chilly. The shorts and tank-tops I dressed Gunnar and myself in were not appropriate, so we didn't stay long. However, I must thank our friend Beccy who told us about this lake because it is really nice, but she forgot one minor detail...its a nudest lake! Okay, maybe it isn't really a lake for the nudes, but that doesn't stop these crazy Europeans from taking a dip in their birthday suits! Kyle made me be the one of the lookout for the naked people and tell him where to avoid looking, and it wasn't just naked ladies...thanks Kyle!
Kyle has had a four day weekend, and we had great plans of taking off, but it just didn't happen. Kyle has a doctor's appointment early Monday morning, so we might go with him for that as it is about 2 hours away. But it has been nice just being home and together as a family!

This is the first time Oma has been allowed near Gunnar. I trust Suesse and she comes up to check Gunnar out frequently and I don't worry. But Oma being a puppy makes me nervous as she has a nipping/chewing problem still. Kyle had to be there to directly supervise the dog and she did very well!

Here is the lake...I faced the opposite direction from the naked people to spare you all!

Thank you for the adorable pics of Gunnar and Oma. I had to work a couple hours this afternoon and the one of Kyle, Gunnar and Oma is now my backdrop. Dad was dissapointed you didn't take your lake picture the other way! He also wants to know why we didn't get to go to the lake while we were there?! Love ya . . . Mom
