Kind of like a commercial

Gunnar hates his vegetables. Anytime I try to feed them to him he makes himself gag until he throws up. Well, I was talking with a German mommy and she told me that most of the German baby food mixes veggies and fruits. I have been making my own baby food minus when we travel, but I thought I would give this a try and then if he likes it I can try to recreate it at home. Well, he loves it so far. I tried the brand Hipp which is supposedly the best (according to German mommy). The variations are pretty interesting, some with wheat even in them. They even have sleepy time food...I wonder if it works. Look how big the jar is compared to a Step 1, Gerber food.

While I was at the store I also picked up some little baby toast. I have never given him anything like this, but my German friends and their parents have. They also start feeding their babies at 4 months were our pediatrician recommended waiting until at least 6 months, I started him on rice at about 5 1/2 months. Gunnar has always done fine with with this toast and cookies (from Oma Regina) and loves it. I let him chew on it until it gets to soft, then I take it away. I watch him very carefully when he eats it, but so far so good...plus it keeps him occupied for more than 2 minutes.
Here is Gunnar enjoying the toast...can you see where he wrote on himself with a pen?

The best part about shopping at the German stores is that they have Mommy and baby (or children) parking spaces. They are right up front with the handicap and probably just as many. I found myself angry with a couple that parked there and had no children. It is nice and makes life a little easier, I wish they did things like this in America. You can also find expecting mother spaces at times.
Okay now, for all you mamas of babies and kiddos. I am about to tell you about my obsession. Some of you may already know about these sites, but I love them. Everyday at 4pm and 5pm here in Germany I have want to be at my computer. Both of these sites offer baby gear for over 50% of, usually very nice name brand things. They have a limited supply of each and one deal is posted each day at the same time, so you have to be fast if you want the good stuff. I got Gunnar and my nephew's Christmas gifts from the sites. They both ship super fast and even here in Germany I usually have my item by a week. I have to really had to limit myself, because I would love to buy everything. I have decided I can only buy what I need or would pay normal price for. So now, I just watch everyday in hopes that it is something I need. However, in one day of weakness I gave in and bought Babylegs. Their fans had been raving about them, and I wanted to try them. I love them. They make diaper changes easy and they are cute (even on a boy).
So, if you want in on the obsession...
babysteals.com --this is my favorite of the two (they also have kidsteals and scrapbooksteals)
or check out babyhalfoff.com
Here is Gunnar in his babylegs

Gunnar and I are off to mail some things to Kyle that he didn't want to carry. He was also gone when the collected one of their bags so a lot of it is that stuff.

those jars are huge!
Thanks for the sites, I am definitely going to check them out. Two babes can get expensive!
I just can't get over how cute Gunnars little face is! I just want to squeeze his cheeks. My poor little kids get it a lot!
